If you plan to put an AI assistant on your website chat or phone line, the opening job is to build an AI assistant knowledge base: the set of answers it is allowed to use when customers ask about your hours, service area, booking steps and policies.

This free AI Assistant FAQ & Knowledge-Base Builder from LiveFixPro turns your own answers into a clean question-and-answer block, FAQ markup for your website and a list of gaps to fill.

It runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded or stored, and it only needs business information, never customer details, passwords or private records.

What the builder asks for

Start by picking a business type: general small business, home service (HVAC, plumbing, roofing), medical or dental practice, restaurant, or spa or salon. The form adds two extra questions that fit your type, such as emergency service for home services or deposit and late-arrival policy for a spa.

Then fill in what you know. Every field is your own wording:

  • Business name (required)

  • Business hours and holiday hours

  • Service area or location type

  • Services offered

  • How pricing works, for example quoted after a visit or call for a quote

  • How to book or request service

  • Cancellation or rescheduling policy

  • Payment methods

  • Response time

  • Business contact for handoff

  • Up to two questions of your own, with answers

You need a business name and at least two answers to build. Anything you leave blank turns up later in the gap list.

Medical and dental practices: do not enter patient information. Use general office details only. The "clinical or health questions" handoff box is ticked for you, because those questions belong with your staff.

Route to a person

Not every question should be answered by an assistant. Tick the topics it should pass along instead:

  • Pricing quotes

  • Complaints

  • Billing or refund questions

  • Emergencies or urgent issues

  • Legal questions

  • Clinical or health questions

The block tells the assistant not to answer those, to say a team member will follow up, and to give your business contact.

What you get back

A knowledge-base block. Plain text with short rules at the top (answer only from the facts below, say you are not sure when the answer isn't there, never invent prices, availability or policies), then your questions and answers, then your handoff topics. Copy it or download it as a .txt file.

A gap list. The fields you left empty, so you can see what customers may ask about that the assistant has no approved answer for.

FAQ markup (JSON-LD). A snippet for your own website's FAQ page. Paste it into a custom-code or HTML block on a page that shows the same questions and answers in plain view. The visible text should match the markup.

Tips for better answers

  • Write like you talk. "We reply within one business day" beats a paragraph of policy.

  • Be specific about hours. Include weekends and holidays, or say you're closed.

  • Fill the gaps before anything else. An empty field is a question the assistant can't answer well.

Before you use it

The builder creates a template from what you type. It doesn't check your answers, connect to any assistant or tool, or decide how an assistant will behave. Read every line, remove anything you haven't confirmed, and have the right person approve policy wording. It isn't legal advice.

Before you put business information into any AI tool, read our AI data privacy checklist for small business. It's a checklist, not legal advice.

FAQ

What is an AI assistant knowledge base?

It's the set of approved answers an AI chat or phone assistant is told to use, such as hours, service area, booking steps and policies. Clear answers help it stay on topic and hand off when it should.

Should an AI assistant answer every question?

No. Choose topics such as pricing quotes, complaints, billing, emergencies, legal or clinical questions that go to a person, and list them in the handoff rules. The builder includes them in your block.

Can a medical or dental practice use the builder?

Yes, with general office details only. Do not enter patient information. Clinical or health questions should always go to your staff, so that handoff topic is pre-ticked for practices.

Where does the information I type go?

Nowhere. The builder runs in your browser, and nothing is uploaded or stored. Use business information only, with no customer details, passwords or private records.

Do I have to use the FAQ markup it creates?

No. It's optional. If you use it, paste it into a custom-code or HTML block on a page that shows the same questions and answers, and keep the visible text matching.
