Google Ads Call Assets, Sitelinks and Callouts Worksheet
Plan Google Ads call assets, sitelinks and callouts in one worksheet: your phone number and hours, links to feature and short facts to hand off. Free.
What the worksheet asks for
Call asset
• Business phone number. A 10-digit US number, area code included.
• The level to add it at: account, campaign or ad group.
• Days and hours calls are answered.
• Three checks: the number is a standard local, mobile or toll-free number (not a vanity, premium or fax number); the same number is shown on your website; and you want call reporting turned on and calls counted as conversions.
Sitelinks (up to four). For each: the link text, the page address and two optional description lines.
Callouts (up to six, one per line). Short facts about your business that you can back up.
What you get back
A worksheet with the call asset details (the number in standard format, the level, the hours it applies and the call reporting choice), your sitelinks, your callouts and a checks list to finish before anything goes into your account. The checks list covers any of the three call asset checks you didn't tick, plus:
• Check every asset against Google's current rules and text limits.
• Every callout and sitelink matches what the website says.
• Landing pages for sitelinks load and work on a phone.
Copy it, download it as a .txt file or print it.
What Google's help page says
The worksheet points to Google's "About call assets" help page. According to that page, as summarized in the tool, call assets add your phone number to your ads, a more specific level overrides a broader one, and call assets do not appear with every impression. The same page says a phone number in the ad text may lead to disapproval, and that call assets are the easier way to add a number. Check the current version of that page and your own account for the rules and text limits that apply to you.
Call assets, once called call extensions
You may see older material that calls them call extensions. The idea is the same. This worksheet uses the current name, call assets.
Tips for a cleaner set of assets
• Make the number match your website. The worksheet asks you to confirm it.
• Write callouts you can prove. Short facts, such as "Locally owned" or "Free estimates," only if they're true for you.
• Send each sitelink to a specific page. "Water heater repair" should lead to a page about water heater repair.
• Test the pages on a phone before you hand the worksheet over.
